3cWorksafe became a product in 2005. Because of our technical expertise a few key clients had asked us to provided technical support to their practices and businesses. One in particular is a dentist who runs a successful practice in Altamonte Springs, Florida. His office was broken into multiple times. Each time the thieves took all the computer equipment they could carry and damaged the remainder. The automated backups had run as expected but the thieves had carried it off with everything else. Our secure data center was already open and providing web hosting and emails services so 3cWorksafe was created to help protect our clients and give them an affordable offsite back up of their critical data, which in this case include patient information spanning more than 10 years.

We have partnered with several companies that have backup software packages. Each of them has features and benefits that separate them from their competition but in the end we have discovered that they all fail. Not because they are defective or have bugs but for other reasons. The reasons for the failures range from hardware that goes bad, windows updates that change the computers operating system, conflicts with virus protection, applications running that lock key files and many others. The answer for our clients is that a trained support person has to monitor the backups and ensure that they run. Believe us when we say - the last thing anyone wants is to try to retrieve key data from a backup only to find that it didn’t run or the files on the back up are corrupted or out of date.

Test 1 – Test Your Existing Backups: Randomly pick a date in the future; stop all of your key systems. Copy all the data to another computer or hard drive. Restore everything from your current backup system and see if you can resume business as usual without losing a day’s work.
